This blog post is your one stop shop for information on how we’re operating during Covid-19. The list may change as the situation develops, so we’ll aim to keep it up to date as regularly as possible.

Shop open to general public (updated 19 August 2021)

The Bristol Bike Project shop is open to the public, but with social distancing measures in place. We’re open 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday at our new premises: 198-200 Stapleton Road, Easton, Bristol BS5 0NY.

If you need a bike repair or service, please come to the shop during opening hours. We’ll assess your bike, provide a quote, and get you booked for the next available slot.

If you want to buy a refurbished bike, you can follow us on Instagram (@thebristolbikeproject) where we post all bikes as soon as they’re ready for sale. We don’t make sales and reservations on Insta, but you can see what we have and then visit the shop if you see something suitable. There is high demand for bikes, so we often don’t have a large selection in stock, but you’re welcome to visit the shop during opening hours. You may be lucky!

We’re only having one customer in the shop at a time. Sorry if you have to wait outside. Please maintain distance from others who may be waiting. Visitors must wear face coverings in the shop.

Community Programmes (updated 19 August 2021)

Womxn’s night is back up and running from 9th August every Monday evening 6-9pm. All the information you need on how to come along and get involved is here.

Our maintenance courses, Bike Kitchen & Social Cycle workshops are all suspended until further notice. We are really keen to restart these workshops as soon as it is feasible and we have sufficient capacity. Bike Kitchen is likely to be the next session to restart this Autumn and we will publicise it widely.

Our Earn-a-Bike programmes, including for young people, are continuing to operate but with some restrictions. We love to get participants into the workshop, learning how to maintain their bike but we are currently only able to offer that option on a limited basis. Where this isn’t possible, we will refurbish a bike ready for collection. Earn-a-Bike collections are on Thursdays, and Young Person’s Earn-a-Bike collections are on Fridays. If you are in need of a bike and meet our criteria, please come to the shop to book on to the waiting list or email hello@thebristolbikeproject.org with your name, height and contact details and we will get back to you.

Our Fix-a-Bike and After School Bikes workshops are running with restrictions. Attendees are not currently able to come into the workshop to fix their bikes, but can arrange an appointment to drop off bikes for repair. All Fix-a-Bike appointments are on Wednesdays, and all After School Bikes appointments are on Fridays. If you have had a bike through one of our Earn-a-Bike programmes and need a repair, please come to the shop to book an appointment or email hello@thebristolbikeproject.org with your name, details of the repair and contact details and we will get back to you.

Volunteering (updated 19 August 2021)

The project has reopened to volunteers for all our sessions but we are currently limiting our workshop capacity to eight people to help maintain social distancing and try to ensure that everyone feels confident and welcome in the space. If you used to volunteer and would like to get back involved then we would love to welcome you back into the BBP fold.

If you haven’t previously volunteered for us but are keen to join us then please complete this short expression of interest form in the first instance and we will get in touch.

Bike donations (updated 19 August 2021)

We can’t currently accept donations of bikes or parts while we settle into our new premises and organise the workshop and storage. Please hold onto any donations until after 1st September. After that date we would love you to bring them to the shop during our opening hours 9am-6pm Monday to Friday.
