BBP fourth Birthday ride to Saltford

Last Sunday (16th December 2012) saw us get together to celebrate The Bristol Bike Project’s 4th Birthday, with what has now become our traditional end of year ride down the Railway Path to Saltford for chips and drinks. We had possibly our largest turnout yet for this ride, with about 30 volunteers, friends and family turning out to enjoy a leisurely social ride blessed with a low winter sun and (thankfully) slightly warmer weather than the previous weeks (no frozen toes this year!). It was great to see plenty of familiar faces and make a few new friends too. We did our best to break the record for the number of bowls of chips eaten (proper cyclists appetites all round!) and several people learnt to ride a tall bike. James (L) proved to us that tweed really can withstand a bit of rain (there was one sudden 5 minute downpour where we simply delayed our departure from the pub until the sun came out again) and both James’ gave a demonstration of how to predict the length of a rain shower with just the power of your beard.

A good chance for a social catch up and a wonderful end to yet another year that has seen the Bike Project continuing to evolve and grow, with even more great people getting involved, volunteering and supporting the project. Many thanks to everyone who came along and everyone who has made the Bristol Bike Project what it is in the past years. Hope everyone has a well deserved rest over the holiday season and we’ll see you next year!
